The term "fashion" is frequently used in a positive sense, as a synonym for glamour and style. In this sense, fashions are a sort of communal art, through which a culture examines its notions of beauty and goodness. The term "fashion" is also sometimes used in a negative sense, as a synonym for fads, trends, and materialism.

What a person chooses to wear can reflect that person's personality or likes. When people who have cultural status start to wear new or different clothes a fashion trend may start. People who like or respect them may start to wear clothes of a similar style.

In fashion can also refer to a preference that becomes widespread sometimes only because it is more common. The preference for "innies" over outties" in belly buttons is one silly example.

Then there are the fashion models that present the new fashion trends to the public and play an important role in showing off the fashion designers' talent.

What Influences Fashion?

There are many different fashions and ultimately the choice of fashion depends on your own preferences. You have the choice to decide whether or not your fashion is appropriate for you or not.  Fashion can influence people around the world and it is the determining factor on how we feel about ourselves. Pop culture influences can be positive or negative. Fashion and the way we dress greatly influences the way that people look at us. No matter how you dress, you are bound to be categorized by others.

We feel your own style is the best style since it is original and it is a look that makes you happy.

As teenagers or young gay adults we are most often the type of people who will quickly and easily buy into fads. However, when we tire of these fads, they quickly die out. Because of our approval and our input into the fashion scene it is often us who finally create and drive new fashions forward.
