What Makes a Good Hairstylist?

What to look for

by Mike (17) [bennymike193]

Step 1: Start with the Reputation

Chances are that a good hair stylist or barber will have a wide clientele. Ask your friend where they get their hair cut. They will be flattered by your asking, and you will get a tip on a good stylist.

Step 2: The First Time

There are certain things you need to look for in a salon or barber shop, and while it may require some trial and error experimentation for you, there are some key indicators as to the quality of the service offered.

Firstly, look at the beauticians/barbers themselves. Do they look like they know what they are doing? How does their hair look? Are they clean and kept, or are they messy and smacking gum? Looks alone are not a good way to judge a person, but someone who takes pride in their work is more likely not only to keep themselves looking good, but they will be more likely to make you look good as well.

Plus you run the risk of illness if the scissors/clippers/etc. are not properly cleaned. Again, if someone takes pride in their work, they will maintain their workplace.

Step 3: Trial and Error

Sometimes even if the place looks great and the people are friendly and what one would look for in a stylist/barber; the place still is less than what you had expected and with that being said, all hair will grow back. Everyone is bound to get a bad haircut in their time, and sometimes you just have to look around to find the best stylist.

Best of Luck!
